After You Call
Most of the homes we work on in this service area went up between 1966 and 1992
With the median build year landing around 1991. That matters because a door from that era usually means an older opener, steel track that's been re-shimmed once or twice, and torsion springs sized for panel weights that don't match what's sold off the shelf today. When you call, we ask what the door is doing (won't open, won't close, makes noise, came off track) and how old the setup is, because that tells us what's likely on the truck before we ever pull into the driveway.
We're based at 3016 Godwin Blvd, so most calls in the immediate area are a short drive
If you're out toward Windsor, Franklin, Smithfield, say so up front - it changes how we schedule the day. We don't quote a price over the phone for anything beyond a basic service call, because spring sizing and opener age genuinely change the number once we're looking at the door.
The Work We Take On
The three named pockets of housing in our service area are mostly 1980s and 90s stock, and that's the bulk of what we repair: broken torsion springs on double doors, worn rollers, bent track from a car clipping it backing out, and openers that are old enough that the circuit board has started failing instead of the motor. We also handle cable replacement and panel damage on the steel sectional doors that were standard builder-grade installs through that period.
What we don't do: we don't sell or install custom architectural doors, and we're not the shop for a full carriage-house wood door from scratch. If your door is original to a house built in the 1966-1992 window and the track hardware is side-mounted in the older style, parts can take longer to source than a same-week repair - we'll tell you that up front rather than promise a date we can't hit. Climate here runs cold-moderate, which is kinder to doors than a lot of regions, but it still means weatherstripping and bottom seals wear out and we replace those regularly.
Contacting Us
Call (757) 384-2217 to reach us directly. We're at 3016 Godwin Blvd, Suffolk, VA 23434, and that's also where parts and hardware come from before a job. If you're closer to Windsor (about 10 miles out), Franklin (17 miles), or Smithfield (19 miles), tell us when you call - it helps us route the day and give you a realistic window instead of a guess.
We don't run a live chat or a ticket system. Phone is the fastest way to get a real answer about scheduling, and it's also the fastest way for us to ask the two or three questions that tell us what's actually wrong with the door before a truck leaves the lot.
